ATA Rule Changes:

Effective for the 2008 Target Year. The Year will begin on September 1, 2007 and run until October 31, 2008, making this target year consist of 14 Months. The target year for 2009 will begin November 1, 2008 and will end October 31, 2009. This change will be permanent and all following target years will end October 31st.

All male sub-junior shooters upon reaching the age of 15 shall automatically move to the 20 yard line if they have not already attained that yardage or greater. This will not affect female sub-juniors due to the fact ladies are allowed to compete from the 19 yard line.

An addendum will be added to the rule book on correct usage of radar guns and chronographs to set targets for registered shoots. Please refer to the ATA Rule book for correct speeds and procedures for a legal target setting.

News and Notices:

The Western Zone Dates will be July 17, 2008 – July 20, 2008. Locations are pending at this time.

The Dates for the Grand American Trap shoot will be August 6-16, 2008. The scholastic program will be given a day on August 5, 2008 to shoot a 200 target tournament prior to the preliminary week beginning.

An advisory will be issued by the Executive Committee regarding shooting 10 targets to a post for a registered shoot. Gun clubs will have the option to throw 10 targets per post only if it is necessary to accommodate the shooters at the shoot. Gun clubs will need to post a notice in the program if they anticipate such an event could happen. If the gun club decides to shoot 10 per post, any participant may withdraw from the event without penalty and are entitled to a full refund for that event.

The ATA has introduced a program to develop coaches for the scholastic trap shooting program along with camps to develop new shooters. All gun clubs are invited to participate. Details on this program are available by contacting Edie P. Reynolds, ATA Youth Development Director. She can be reached by email at ereynolds@shootata.com.

Look for further updates on the ATA website as it has been updated and new content is added daily.

Thanks for Shooting,

Joe Sudbury, Delegate
